Goosehill Hall Holiday Cottages Handbook

Fire precautions and
Emergencies

Good To Go England Green.png

Each cottage is fitted with a Fire Alarm and Smoke Detector System and is equipped with a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and rechargeable torch in each bedroom.

TAKING FIRE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

No smoking within the cottages.

No candles or tea lights, please.

Please do not bring portable heaters or electrical cooking equipment.

When inside, if you do lock a door please leave the key in the lock to make escape easier in the event of fire.

IF YOU SET OFF THE ALARM

This will occur if the smoke detector is activated in your cottage.  If the source of smoke (such as burnt toast, sizzling sausages) stops, then the alarm will stop.

The Gardener's Cottage smoke detector is linked to an Automist system which releases a water vapour mist to suppress the fire.  If it is a false alarm you have c.20 seconds to stop it – Pull off the panel with the finger hole under the stairs and push the stop button.  (Please note that the system has been set so as not to be triggered by burnt toast or sizzling sausages.)

IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE

Evacuate the building. If safe to do so use the extinguisher and/or blanket (but take no personal risks). Inform the owners.
